The power of reading!

The High School English Classes at Heritage Academy have been very assiduous this year! The ninth grade class is continually working on grammar exercises and have read various novels and short stories including Romeo and Juliet and Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven.” The sophomore class just finished the book “The Wave” which is based on a true incident that occurred in a high school history class, in 1969. Various lessons were learned about the powerful forces of group pressure. Through their analytical writing they have identified with many of the characters in the book and have shaped many opinions of prejudices. The Junior class read the novel, “To Kill A Mockingbird” and will be attending the performance at Playhouse in the Park in April. One student quotes from the book, “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view!” The Juniors are also taking an on-line college career class through WKU this spring semester! Lastly, the seniors are diligently working on their resumes, college applications, housing, FAFSA, scholarships, literature, and research papers to culminate their final year!
