How Time Flies when you are a Junior!

Well, I can’t believe that the school year is almost over!  My how time flies when you are having fun! This year, I have had the pleasure of being Heritage’s Junior Class Sponsor. I would like to take this opportunity to share some of the events they have been a part of this school year.

When students become Juniors, they have a big responsibility in honoring the Seniors by hosting a Junior/Senior Banquet at the end of the year.  To pull this off, it takes lots of fundraising.  With this in mind, the Juniors started off early by having a booth on the Heritage Campus during the Highway 127 Yard Sale.   In October, they not only participated in the Heritage Fall Festival, but they received first place with their Wizard of Oz themed car. The funniest part of the night was when they had to take turns holding the “tornado” from blowing away.  So not only did they have a fog machine as a special effect, but they were fortunate enough to have a good strong wind to really make it look realistic.  So their “special effects” were truly special… and memorable!  But honestly, the best part of the night were the faces of the little kids receiving candy with those big smiles and full of excitement.  “Hello, Dorothy!”, “Can I pet Toto?” were beautiful sounds to our ears.  Giving kids a safe place to explore their imagination and have fun is a great thing to be a part of!!!

During the basketball season they sold baked goods during the Heritage Spaghetti Dinner.  At the end of the season they won the Best High School Homecoming Poster Contest.  We have so many talented juniors here at Heritage.  From designing a winning poster, to creating and making crafts at their Craft Show during the Heritage Christmas Concert, to our junior, Summer Tupman, winning this year’s Heritage Has Talent.

Our most successful fundraiser was the Valentine’s Dinner.  Both the Juniors and Seniors participated in being waitresses and waiters.  They did such an awesome job!   The bonding that transpires when these students do activities together is exciting to watch.  These are not only learning experience, but fun experiences that they will remember their whole life.

I enjoy working with these kids so much!  They will always have a place in my heart!!!
